A Letter from Kevin Sorbo

Actor Kevin Sorbo has been working with a program called A World Fit For Kids! (WFIT) for 12 years now as a board member and spokesperson. A leading nonprofit provider of after-school physical activity and youth development programs for children and teenagers, WFIT aims to prepare the young ones to have fit and fulfilling lives.

However, WFIT may fall prey to irresponsible government spending and budget cuts so it now needs your help and support.

Here’s a letter from Kevin explaining how you can help: 

Dear Friend,

This is an urgent call to action… our kids and families desperately need your help. Delayed payments from state and local granting agencies pose immediate threats on our ability to serve the elementary through high school students who most need us, particularly this summer as thousands of youth have no safe place to go.

The Los Angeles Police Department has reported approximately 250 gangs and 26,000 gang members active in Los Angeles. In 2008, these gang members committed 6,877 gang-related crimes. We do not want our children to be forced onto the streets of Los Angeles where they become prey for these gangs and victims of their crimes.

But you can help prevent this from happening! Your donation to A World Fit for Kids! will have an immediate impact and keep vulnerable kids off the street. With your help they will remain safe, engaged with positive role models and involved in healthy activities. While the cost of helping these children may seem great, the cost of inaction is even greater.

For a mere $6.00 a day you can provide 3 hours of programming for a child during the afternoon hours when kids are most vulnerable to gangs, drugs, violence and risky behaviors. Your donation will help provide the programming, equipment, snacks, and coach/mentors needed to serve 1,200 kids through July and August.

These kids are our future and they need your help now!
